Walmart Black Friday 2012 Update

So after yesterday's announcement regarding layaway and Walmart's Black Friday items we've had a slew of questions.  We've looked for further clarification and here is what we've found:

• If you have any items on Layaway and would like to receive the reduced price during the Black Friday sale the item(s) will need to be deleted from the Layaway account and added back to receive the event price (or price matched, whichever is lower). 
• Layaway will be closed until 9am on Friday (11/23). Event prices for items sold during the first two sales events at 8pm 11/22 and 10pm 11/22 are only available while supplies last.

Here is the big loophole - Walmart's Black Friday doorbuster deals are "available while supplies last," which should mean that if you place the item on layaway now you can get the item for the Black Friday price on Friday morning when layaway re-opens.  Also keep in mind that Walmart has amended this policy to state that only 3 event items will be allowed on layaway.

All in all I'd say this is a YMMV situation.  I wouldn't rely on this method 100% if you've really got your heart set on something, but it's worth a shot.  Personally, I'll be shopping online and price matching like crazy next Friday - what's your strategy?

Reserve Your Walmart Black Friday Items NOW!

I've got some VERY exciting news on Walmart's Black Friday sales which start next week.  Now what could be so exciting?  What if I told you there was a way to almost guarantee that you'll score everything you've got on your list without having to fight the crush of the crowds?  Exciting, right?  How do we do that?  One word: LAYAWAY.

That's right, Walmart has proclaimed that this year they will honor Black Friday pricing on any items paid off on Black Friday.  This means you could head to the store today and place the exact items from next Friday's ad on layaway, pay them off on Black Friday and get the BF sale price.  This also stands true for Black Friday price matching.  Say you want something at Target, but don't want to stand in line.  Head to Walmart and place that item on layaway, then get to the store on BF and price match your Target ad.  And there you have it - Black Friday pricing without the stampede and fight.

Remember, the items must be an EXACT match and you must pay off the balance of your account during the item's valid sale hours.  Doorbuster deals come in waves this year, so keep that in mind when figuring out what time you'll need to get to the store.

• Walmart will begin their first round of Black Friday sales at 8pm on Thanksgiving Day.  The second round of will begins two hours later at 10pm.
